Bonjour à tous et à toutes,
On this lovely Sunday, I’m in Paris, where we finally have received a couple of beautiful spring days. The sun’s out and the tables are taken at every terrasse across the city.
I thought I might drop you all a line with a few small developments —
Friday evening, I had the honor of speaking to a wonderful group of young people at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. We walked through “The Juggler’s Revenge” and I highlighted a few key pieces in the exhibition that were key to understanding both Jean Cocteau and Severin Wunderman.
I’d like to offer my thanks to the team at the Guggenheim for inviting me to speak, and to my audience for asking thoughtful, nuanced and creative questions!
Additionally, some news in regards to next week’s essay. It’s an unhinged exploration of one of my favorite trashy fixations, Vanderpump Rules, and the unexpected relationship #Scandoval has to Surrealism.
Because it’s super-sized, you’ll be getting “The Reality Above Reality” delivered to you in two parts: the first, as usual, on the 15th, and the second will arrive the next day.
Also, in light of the fact that Vanderpump Rules will be airing its highly-anticipated three-part reunion episodes beginning this week, I’ve decided to make “The Reality Above Reality” available to read free of charge until June 1st, after which I’ll put it back behind the paywall. From then on, only paying subscribers who have access to the full SACRED MONSTER archives will be able to read it.
I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday,
À très bientôt,
Chloë Helen America Cassens
